About

Building a new operating model for UK accounting.

Vantrex combines disciplined practice acquisition with Orion, an AI-native operating infrastructure designed for the real controls and workflows of accounting.

Why Vantrex exists

A significant number of UK accounting practices are owned by people who are thinking about retirement or the next stage of their career, and many have no obvious internal successor. At the same time, most practices still run on fragmented operating infrastructure — separate tools for bookkeeping, workflow, client communication and review that were never designed to work together. That combination is an opportunity: succession creates the moment to modernise, and modernisation is what makes a practice more valuable to run.

Vantrex was set up to act on that opportunity directly: acquire established practices, implement Orion as their operating infrastructure, and use the resulting gains in capacity and margin to grow earnings and, over time, enterprise value.

The problem we are built to address

Selling an accounting practice is not only a financial transaction. It affects staff who have built their careers there and clients who rely on continuity of service. Many trade buyers integrate an acquired practice quickly, absorbing the client list without addressing the underlying operating infrastructure. That leaves the same fragmented systems in place under a new owner. Vantrex's approach is different: implement Orion deliberately, under accountant supervision, so the practice's capacity and margin actually improve.

The strategy

Acquire. Implement. Improve. Scale.

Each acquisition is intended to follow the same sequence, so the model can be tested, measured and repeated.

  1. 01

    Acquire

Buy established UK accounting practices from owners planning succession.

  2. 02

    Orion

Implement Vantrex's operating infrastructure under accountant supervision.

  3. 03

    Capacity

Reduce repetitive administration so professionals handle more skilled work.

  4. 04

    Margin

Improve operating efficiency, with the aim of expanding margins.

  5. 05

    EBITDA

Convert efficiency into stronger, more consistent earnings.

  6. 06

    Enterprise value

Build a larger, more scalable group with more durable earnings.

  7. 07

    Scale

Validate the model with real operating data, then repeat the acquisition.

  8. These are intended outcomes of the operating model. They remain to be tested and measured in an acquired practice.

Principles

What we hold to

  • 01. Plain dealing

We say what we can and cannot do, and we do not make commitments we are not able to keep.

  • 02. Respect for client relationships

A practice is a set of client relationships built over years. We treat that as the asset, not a line in a spreadsheet.

  • 03. Measured integration

Changes to systems or process are introduced deliberately and at a pace the team can absorb, not imposed on day one.

  • 04. Accountable automation

Orion is built to support accountants, not replace their judgement. Qualified people review, approve and remain responsible for the work.

  • 05. Evidence over hype

We describe our model as a thesis to be tested against real numbers, not a result already achieved.

  • 06. Aligned execution

Owners, staff, investors and the team at Vantrex should be working from the same plan, stated in the same terms.

Vantrex Group and Orion Accounting

Client-facing accounting work is delivered under the Orion Accounting brand, which is the operating infrastructure designed to bring acquired practices onto a consistent way of working while accountants remain responsible for reviewing and approving the work.

Questions

About Vantrex

Is Vantrex Group a registered company?

Vantrex is an early-stage venture. We are building the relationships and structure needed for our first acquisition and are not describing ourselves as an established corporate group.

Has Vantrex completed any acquisitions?

Not yet. Vantrex is currently preparing for its first UK accounting-practice acquisition and building relationships with owners, intermediaries and potential investment partners.

What is Orion, and how does it relate to the acquisition strategy?

Orion is the AI-native operating infrastructure Vantrex intends to implement in each acquired practice, designed to support the real controls and workflows accountants already use. The thesis is that Orion increases capacity and expands margin, which is designed to grow EBITDA and, in time, enterprise value — to be validated after our first acquisition.

What is the relationship between Vantrex Group and Orion Accounting?

Orion Accounting is the operating brand under which acquired accounting work is intended to be delivered to clients. Vantrex Group is the entity through which practices are acquired; Orion is the infrastructure and brand through which they are run.

Will an acquired practice keep its name and team?

Our starting intention in any transition is to retain the team, and to change client-facing identity only where the owner agrees it makes sense. Specific terms are agreed case by case.

Who are the founders?

Vantrex was founded by Vidun Satharasinghe and Tharindu Samarakkody. Their individual pages set out their roles and remit.
